Looking for the breakout spot in the Russian defense Germans decide on the North edge guarded by the two Medium MG's. The opening goes very poorly for the Germans (i.e. The Russian MG's did their job) and the initial rush is stopped cold by a Blaze that kept Sgt Ganz from moving and the two broken squads who did move Adjacent to the Russian MG squad broken. Two recover cards and both squads are still broke and still Adjacent. The Russians then discard three cards.

The Germans did have an Advance and two Ambush cards. Stuck as they were, time to go, and a broke squad advanced into the Russian MG squad hex. Good for the Germans the Russians did not have an Ambush or Light Wounds. The eliminated via two Ambush cards Russian squad brought the VP to 0. This was the one and only VP change.

The Russians reinforced the German breakout area with... Everybody. The Germans retreated back to their exact start hexes with Foxholes. The onus of Attack was now on the Russians. However they kept playing time cards early, 3 of them before 20 Russian cards played, and missed the first SD roll. Tie Game, Germans have the Initiative card.
